I'm after a 4 cell batter yfor my X61, i think i got the correct part number (40Y7001) but Lenovo are charging 120 pounds (~$190) and most ebay sellers sell compatible makes.

Are there any websites who sell Lenovo-made batteries but at a cheaper price than Lenovo?

If not, which websites do people buy their compatible Lenovo batteries from?

Not all eBay sellers sell generic batteries, I was able to source a brand new genuine 6 cell battery for my T61 from a UK seller on eBay for less than 5 times the amount Lenovo wanted. Though but you do have to be vigilant on some who try to pass on an aftermarket battery as genuine.

I share your pain though as getting some genuine Lenovo batteries elsewhere from the UK for low prices is quite tricky, if only Lenovo provided us an Outlet store of some sort...

I've tried batteries via various sellers on eBay (even non-UK) and, as expected, some are better than others, but there's no real guide as to whether you'll get a good one. However, given the price it's par for the course. I cycle through batteries quite heavily as I tend to do most computing unplugged. eBay jobbies, in general, tend to deteriorate after six to twelve months - and I'd consider that pretty good. The genuine articles last waaaaaay longer - for example, I have a Lenovo 9 cell for my x200 (which I bought when in HK three yrs ago) that I cane on a daily basis (well over 500 cycles now) and it's only just started conking out on me (still get about 2.5 - 3hrs out of it). It cost me 100 quid back then (cheapest was 160 in UK) but it was certainly worth it. If you know that you're going to be keeping the machine for a long while then stump up the extra and go for the genuine article - it hurts the pocket at first but there really is no substitute IMHO.

If you use the word genuine along with the part number when searching ebay you'll get a lot less off-brand batteries. Here's one for $63, which would be £40 I think. It ships worldwide.
