Before going ahead with the clean install for my brand new Lenovo 3000 N100, I want to make sure that I have everything in place... (as you can see, I am very cautious :D )

I found and downloaded everything (to be burned into a DVD, not even a writable USB key). However, I couldn't find the OmniPass software on Lenovo's website.

It seems that I am not the first to encounter this difficulty:

    http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/lenovo3000N100.asp?df=100&forumid=393509&exp=0&select=1970430

Still, I would like to believe that if it came bundled with my laptop, I should be able to find it somewhere.

    But where is that "somwhere"???

I looked at C:\SWTOOLS but couldn't find anything that hints "OmniPass" or "Softex".

Any idea where else I could find it?

Is it downloadable directly from Softex?

BTW, the version that came preinstalled is OmniPass 5.00.12 from Softex, Inc.

    Thanks,
    Victor

No answer so far means... no solution? :)

If so, does this mean that those of you who performed a clean install have basically given up the use of the OmniPass software?

If so, what do you use instead for your fingerprint reader?

If not, how did you manage to re-install the OmniPass software after a clean install?

    Thanks,
    Victor

I'm not sure what the OmniPass software is, or whether or not it's Lenovo 3000 series specific, but on the T-series there's a software called Fingerprint Reader Software 5.6. That is what i used after the clean install.

So i read a little about omnipass. It sounds a lot like Client Security Solutions software that comes preinstalled on the T-series models. I'm not sure if it's compatible with your N100 but i would look into it.

    Great.... glad you found that.

I did a little homework while you were finding that. I discovered the CSS and Omnipass are incompatible so don't try to have them both on your system at the same time. Just go with Omnipass, it looks superior anyway.

Actually, I changed my mind: after learning that the way OmniPass works is by storing all your userids and passwords in their (Softex) web site... I have no desire to have this convenience. I uninstalled OmniPass to never use it again.

Why would anyone hand over all his/her password to a single company???

    This is beyond me.
