I thought that at least one of the new W series would use a ATI 4800 GPU.

IMO Lenovo will be behind the power curve over the next year if they don't quickly offer a notebook with a ATI 4800 GPU.

Also it looks like the ATI 3650 (last years tech) in the W400and W500 are very weak considering how well the R61 and T61p did with the NVIDIA GPU tech.

Hopefully Lenovo will have a ATI 4800 gpu powered notebook soon.

    Not gonna happen!
Don't hold your breath for it.
There will be more powerful GPUs by the time of next year.

Sure there will be more powerful GPUs by next year and if there is I hope that Lenovo doesn't put an older GPU in their notebook like they have right now.

If Lenovo it putting the latest CPUs in their machines IMO they should keep that same pattern with the GPUs they put in their machines.

    Love my T61p. :)

FireGL V5700 is not an old GPU by any mean. Its power is more than that in your T61p.

Yes but I'm not talking about the W700 which I have read will 3dMArk06 over 10,000. Complete beast that I wouldn't mind having but I really don't need.

    I'd like to see a 14" with a ATI 4800 series.

You want to see a laptop overheat every time you run a 3D application?

    That's like saying to put a 8800GTX in a 14.1''
I know you have a good sense of humor.
And the W700 comes with Quadro FX 3700m, W500 comes with FireGL V5700!

The firegl 5700 is in the W500 not W700...the W700 is a whole new beast
