I got a prompt that a restore backup needed to be run so I selected "yes". This took away 15GB of my hard drive. I cannot find this backup anywhere. Can someone tell me how I can delete this to free up my hard drive again.

He is referring to the Think Vantage restore. You undo it by going into your Rescue and recovery menu by: pressing the Think Vantage blue button at the very first boot screen(right when you turn on your computer). You then look for something pertaining to "backups and recoveries" or "rescue and recovery" and there should be something there that will let you manage your partitions. Just select the backup and delete it. It is really easy to find once you are in the Think Vantage Recovery menu.

If you still need help(you shouldn't) try searching these forums for your problem, I have been here only for a little while and I have seen many threads about this.
