About 20 hours ago, the two 15" T61p's were removed from the American Lenovo website. I am kind of worried that they won't be back in the near future, as I was just about to buy one. Does anyone know anything about this?

I think it will, just might be shortage of parts. I would call lenovo and see what they say.

What do you mean by discreet nvidia?

Also, it is really difficult to phone because when I get off work they are already closed. Any volunteers?

Yea, I have the same problem... I was just about to order one when they got taken off. I'd love to hear some news on that front.

It couldn't be a problem with the graphics card...The 14" T61p shares the same GPU, and its still up.

I'm going to guess that its a shortage of the WUXGA screen or another part specific to the 15". Either way, it doesn't affect me, since I am interested in the 14".

    I still could be.

I was suggesting that they removed those because of the quadro fx 570m.

There has been a known shortage of the WUXGA lcd screens, and ofcourse the infamous UWB/WUSB...Lenovo had simply removed the UWB/WUSB option and continued to sell online even with WUXGA. They could have just as easily changed that to a WXGA lcd screen as they appear to still have these in stock.

The only difference I could see after them removing the laptops entirely is the total lack of 256MB Quadro FX570m cards - they are now nowhere to be found on ANY CTO notebooks.

I'm guessing the reason they removed them entirely is because to be without the 570m, it no longer has anything to separate itself from the standard T61.

I believe someone in another thread recently confirmed the 570m shortage (or possibly worse, an mainboard shortage entirely as the 570m is soldered on?)

I spoke to a lowely sales rep yesterday...so this may be entirely inaccurate (though I am leaning to 'more' accurate than not). He stated there was currently a 3-4 week wait on the t61p LCDs alone. I'm assuming this is the case for both sized notebooks using the wuxga or wuxga+ or whatever you call it. Oddly, he did not state there were any issues with the 570m.

Maybe they'll finally add WSXGA+ as an option if WUXGA is out!

For those who want to purchase a T61p. There are many of us on these forums who have ordered and have waited a month or more and still they have not shipped. My opinion for what it is worth is that lenovo took the t61p off the site because they have a very large backlog. They already have lots of people calling and complaining about them selling computers they dont have ect. So they took them off the site till they are better able to meet current demand. If you want one you will be able to get one you just have to wait. One other option is the try CDW, i hear they may have some in stock, but i have not personally checked. Good luck

CDW is expecting a shipment in between August 23rd for pre-ordering customers and August 30th for those who wish to order off the website. Quantities are limited, and none of these models have UWB or WUSB. They are pretty tricked out so expect to pay a high premium for them.

Update: There are some 'Customer Specific' models available right now as I just checked. May be worth anyone who wants one today if they hurry.
