Besides Lenovo, Buy, Amazon and such more familiar names, I am
not sure I could trust other on-line retailers. Any suggestions in terms of better prices and fast shipping?

Also I live in California and basically they all charge tax, right?

Hey, Have you checked out eBay? ThinkPadWorld has a pretty big selection and not too bad prices on refurb Thinkpads. I've never bought from them myself but I've heard some good stuff and them seemed to have near perfect feedback.

Thanks for the information. I checked a $999-buy-it-now T42. It says it is basically new and comes with a 42-month warratnty.

"These remanufactured products are sold by IBM with a L-Claim classification, which means that they are in brand new condition. These are brand new items which were either:

    (A) shipped to an IBM reseller or end user and then returned, in most cases unused, or

    (B) a custom ordered configuration which was cancelled or,

    (C) brand new odd lot or overstocked inventory.

They are carefully tested and recertified by IBM and come in a IBM factory sealed box. Computers include the original factory software load including OS and have a Microsoft Certificate of Authenticity (COA)."

"Six Months IBM Global Financing Warranty plus 3 Year Mack Computer International Extended Warranty."

Why buy an outdated T series when you can get a new T60 dual core?

Price? The T43's and T42'c cost a lot less than T60, especially as the T4's can be found on sale.

Question... Is a dual core 1.83 T60 with XGA worth $200 more than a T43 with 2.0ghz Pentium M and SXGA ?? (all other specs being same)

Based on SuperPi tests, seems like Core 1.83 is faster than 2.0ghz Centrino.

Personally, my T60 with Core Duo 1.83ghz runs much faster than my older HP with Centrino 1.83ghz especially when multitasking and launching apps. :)
