    Hey,
can anybody recommend me a deal / vendor with a good Thinkpad deal for me?

It should be the 61 series. (Either R or T)
I cant order from the Lenovo page cuz it needs to be shipped in a week or so.

It should have Vista Home Premium, but I see that this is prob hard to get... so I could deal with Business too even though I wouldnt want to...

Shud be cheap. (Less than, say, 1400 better close to 1000)

    Im a student too

This is a pretty good deal, it's a low end Core 2 Duo, but it does come with 2GB of RAM. Only $699

lol if only you could get ANY new thinkpad, much less t series for that price (at those specs). It's an N100.

I recommend costcentral.com. No tax (Office Depot has to charge tax), free shipping, quite a few configurations under $1400. I've bought a thinkpad from them before, excellent retailer.

I checked that one out. Some pre-configured models actually cost less than at Lenovo.com and no tax! There are plenty of T60 with 14" screens that you can't get from Lenovo any more. Way to go!

Yeah, and if you go that route, look for a few of the couple t60 14" they have under $1400 that have a 3 year warranty, sxga+, dedicated graphics, c2d of course etc.

EDIT- JUll, this is off topic, but would you PLEASE tell the how/why story of hvaing come from owning two thinkpads to an N100!?

This is crazy, but the reason I ask is because I am actually sitting on a sealed n100 right now, debating on whether to return it to buy another thinkpad (mine's on it's last leg), or just live with the downgrade (at over half the cost- only reason I haven't already returned it is b.c it was such a screaming deal). So having read all the mostly favorable reviews, I would still appreciate a perspective from someone in my situation (spoiled to thinkpads, how harsh of a downgrade is a non tp lenovo). Main thing I'm concrerned w/is keyboard, no trackpoint (though ive deactivated my tp';s trackpoint this week to see if i can live without it), and this particular one is vista business and huge downgrade in resolution. Thoghts?

    sorry for the hijack op

Speaking of dealers, does anyone know any good Canadian dealers. So far the best price one ive seen is www.pacificnotebooks.com, but I have never heard of it. Anyone on this forum used this site?

You can buy from Lenovo Canada through visaperks.ca
Some pre-configured models there are actually cheaper than in USA, but you cannot customize anything. The best thing - it's returnable, which is doubtful in case of pacificnotebooks(never heard of them either)
