I'm thinking of buying the Lenovo y510p sli model but would also need to purchase the bluray ultrabay but can't seem to find it through Ebay, google, or Lenovo. Any hints on where to find it?

    Thanks!

I've been trying to find one and have had no luck (not even a Y500 ultrabay disc player). Hopefully Lenovo get some in stock now that the graphics card ultrabay is available...

They sell one model with the Blu-Ray drive on their site. Try contacting Lenovo via chat, you could probably order the drive from them. I bet it is around 100$ USD.

I know this doesnt answer your question but would a USB Bluray suffice? I was looking for the ultrabay option too but couldn't find it, so I got a usb one and it works fine.

The advantage of a non-usb Blu-Ray is the fact that you can swap between SLI and ODD, giving you Optimus when you need battery life and SLI when you need performance.

Thanks, I just did and they said they do not offer the Blu-Ray drive for sale, only the DVD which is out of stock. They then told me to order the Bluray equipped version and an extra card for $229 although it only comes with a 120watt adapter so from what I understand I would need the beefier one too.

I wonder if there is some way to petition Lenovo to sell the blu ray ultra bay drives separately? There's obviously people who want it, I know I do, I would pay obscene amounts of money for it unfortunately. Also, if you google search for 'ideapad ultra bay blu ray" a ton of forum posts and q&a sites come up with people asking about it. It seems like the y series is decently popular considering how many lists I've seen it recommended on, I have to imagine they would do decently well manufacturing more ultra bay accessories. Who knows though. But if there was some way to show lenovo how much desire there was in the market for the accessories, I wonder if that would spur them to at least do a single run of them or something.

I just ordered the DVD drive and will most likely swap it out with a blu-ray drive. I'll just use the DVD drive with an enclosure afterwards as an external drive for other devices. It really sucks that Lenovo doesn't sell the blu-ray drive...

Just got the ultrabay dvd drive delivered and I'm surprised at how much cooler the system runs when it's on the Intel 4400 IGP. I don't feel any heat on the keyboard at all. Looks like I'll have the DVD drive in most of the time and only swap in the graphics card when I need it.

    FTFY.

And the 4600HD is still about as good as a GT625M. Just don't use it to play emulators or games that rely too heavily on the CPU. Basically you get 3 levels of video card performance with this laptop:
    - GT 625M (iHD 4600)
    - GT 755M (solo)
    - GT 775M (755 SLI)
