With all the chatter around Sandybridge - this will probably seem like a strange post. But here goes. I am interested in getting an X201s. I like the display resolution (1440x900) and the portability (and the processing power).
I have done some searching online and I haven't had much luck tracking down new units. I suspect I am just out of luck - but I figured I would ask here to see if anyone had suggestions.
Here is what I am looking for:
1. X201s (the S model)
2. Screen: 1440x900 (not sure if they ever came in 1280x800).
3. Processor: Core i7 640LM
4. Condition: New (only). No Referb or open box.
5. I don't need the ultra base![]()
6. Prefer < $2000
I was thinking something like 5397FFU or similar - looks like Lenovo made multiple models of the X201s that fit these specs.
So my question (in a round about way): Does anyone have suggestions about where these can still be purchased online? I have done some searching and I usually find either:
A. They don't exist anymore.
B. If they exist people want close to $2500 for them.
C. They exist but only as an open box or referb for >= $1800 (which seems like a lot for referb/open box to me).
Any suggestions (even if the suggestion is "give up") is welcome![]()
Thanks,

What about the X220s? Otherwise check Ebay.
-
There's some on google shopping, though may not be in stock.

It's beginning to look like I am out of luck.

Good suggestion though.

There are a few on ebay for ~1800. Try using one before buying though since a fair number of people have reported eye strain because of the high res in a small screen.

If you really want a X201s you may have to go the used, refurbed or open box route. I bought my X200 from the Lenovo Outlet and my X200t was open box. Both were considerably less than if bought new. Plus they pretty much looked new to me.

Also - thanks to whomever grouped my replies into one single reply. Sorry for creating the noise in this post. I didn't see the option for multi-quote. Anyway - thanks again! -
Frankly, for the price they're being sold at, you might as well wait for the X220s like the other poster suggested and pickup a regular X201 for the interim.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Have you seen the other thread? x220 is being launched tomorrow. Dunno if that means x220s be launched tomorrow too or come later.
-
I suggest you play the wait game for the x220s
-
Yea but I hate the wait game...I so hate it... Ok. I am sure we can all say that on this forum

I was planning to get the e420s, but just get a netbook for the time being.

At least that's what I was thinking -
You probably won't see anything like WXGA+ on the X220 or X220s if there is one. The X220 will most likely be 16:9, which means the resolution would 1600x900 if you wanted something above WXGA+.
-
And Erik said that he wouldnt get his hopes up to have HD+ in X220s.
-
Does the Microsoft store ever carry them? I know my x201t was purchased from there.
-
I've seem some ThinkPads there, but the issue is Lenovo isn't making them any longer. Whatever supply there was, is now gone. You might get lucky and find a new one on eBay or CL, but it seems unlikely.

So, this question is a bit off tangent from the OP, but since x220 is gonna be available soon, when can we expect a (massive) discount on x201 models? I know that there was a deal in Jan where they went for about $700 for the i7 model, but can even lower prices be expected soon?
-
i don't recall a x201 w/i7 cpu going for that low and i generally keep tabs on the coupons/discounts. if it was true, it must either have been a stripped down model or they had a large number of them that they wanted to unload.
anyways, who can really answer on when and where future discounting will go?!...it's all speculation. just have your CC ready and keep checking. and have your fingers crossed.
from what details were leaked out on the x220, i don't consider the x220 to be significantly more desirable than the x201 in some cases. the longer battery life (how much more isn't known yet) is a nice plus but the 16:9 screen is imo, a major drawback.

Nvm it was the i5 version.

Pixel density is ridiculously high.
