I just inherited a ThinkPad X24 (circa 2001) that has bad LCD hinges. I searched through the net for replacements (FRU 26P9825)... There are only a few sellers who have it, and they want $70-$100 per pair (which I think is pretty outrageous -- the whole computer is not worth that much).

I would appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction for a pair of replacement hinges at low cost ($10-$20).

What country are you in? I found a pair of hinges on eBay, but the seller is based in Australia, so the shipping cost may be high... but then again, it's just a pair of hinges.

Thanks! I don't know how I could have missed that when I searched on eBay... By the way, I am in Portland, Oregon in the US.

Edit: Darned stupid forum system does not allow me to rep you without first "spreading some Reputation around"... sigh.

Edit 2: The cheapest shipping to the US costs $15... I am on the fence.

they're only $327 direct from IBM.   how many sets would you like? :D

i'd like to think they're supposed to be $32.70 but this isn't the first part in the system with a ridiculously high price.   i've seen worse.   8GB FB-DIMMs were about $15k last time i checked.
