    I had to do a complete factory restore, so I followed the Rescue and Recovery directions, and everything went well, except for the fact that Lenovo sent me an XP Pro downgrade instead of the Vista Business I expected when I ordered the laptop! Is there any way I can get the correct standard Vista Business Recovery CD's?

    Use the 'Create Recovery Media" option under ThinkVantage folder. The XP downgrade is something they are giving for new machines if you want to downgrade, otherwise it would of cost you 45 + tax and shipping.

    No....I was originally running Vista, then when I did the recovery, it installed XP Professional...Did the XP recovery also write over the original rescue partiton?

    OIC, yes it did so you will not be able to create them. If you call Lenovo they will charge you for them.

    Try to comment that you couldn't do anything and didn't notice about the downgrade installation and get them to send you a Vista recovery CD. That or worse comes to worse go to windowsanytimeupgrade.com or whatever it's called and get a CD for 7.00 shipped.

    Call them up and insist they send it to you as you have everyright to use the Vista OS that you purchased. They have every obligtion to honor your rights. Grow some balls and dont let them push you around on this.

    Call up Tech Support, not customer support, and tell them your optical drive isn't burning the CD's correctly and that you only get one. They will send you one for free.

    Good luck.

    That was a bit rude, though I am pretty pissed.

    Ive worked with their support before this, I just have never had this problem.

    Just to clarify - did you wipe out the recovery partition at some point? The recovery partition would contain the vista business factory restore image.

    Installing XP would not necessarily wipe out the recovery partition unless you specifically deleted the partition.

    Er, sorry my apologies. It is rude but consider it tough love. Want to push you into forcing Lenovo to do 'da right thing and treat you the customer right.

    @SkeeteRX8,

    I just received my recovery cd's as well but I am having problems with the restore. It boots into Vista Ultimate and is running some auto configuration and locks up. Can you verify the part number on your Supplemental Product Revovery CD?
