A lot of the eBay auctions are for knockoffs that may word just fine, but personally, I rather get a genuine Lenovo product. Genuine Lenovo batteries do pop up on eBay and are cheaper than to get it directly from Lenovo, but I would just check the picture the seller put up to make sure that it's genuine. Alternatively, you can look in Lenovo's outlet for batteries: http://outlet.lenovo.com/accessories.html?cat=32

I got a 7-cell for my R61 from Lenovo's outlet and I'm quite happy with it. It arrived with 0 cycles on it and only cost $41. Cheaper than eBay! ;)

Ask the Ebay seller for the serial number and check the warranty status on Lenovo website. IF the battery is not covered meaning it's over a year old, and it's usually a hit or miss buying those batteries.

it is either compatible batteries, or defective batteries or those batteries from Lenovo battery exchange. I will be weary of the ebay sellers when they say it is overstock for such things as X200, considering the fact that Lenovo don't keep overstock of these parts, and just sell it off within such a short period of time. If Lenovo wants to get rid of their overstock, it is usually through battery sales or refurbished sale that many US customers often get.

Risking $45 to save $60. In the end may cost you $100 +$45 = $145. Do you want known or unknown quality? The other day I inquired about some part on eBay where the seller used the words "Manufactuer: IBM and also Genuine IBM." Upon inquiry he said it was not. lol. The real risk is the battery explodes and your new X200 goes down the s*itter if you're lucky with worse case you get acid all over your face. BTW, steer clear of eBay batteries. So if you bought say a new BMW fabrique aux Germany. Would you go to the junkyard looking for a replacement or extra part from unknown orgin and unknown history?

I had bad experience with ebay batteries
It was for an old Mac Powerbook. The battery was from Hongkong. I used 3 cycles before it died. Never able to get money back.
