Does this mean no more IBM logos on Lenovos?

Looks like it's a goner. As long as the notebooks are good, I don't need IBM on there. Besides they aren't IBMs any more.

Apparently, the IBM logo will be dropped starting with the T61 and R61 models. It'll be interesting to see how long it'll take them to update the support sites, which are still under ibm.com.

Wasn't Lenovo building the ThinkPads for IBM even before IBM decided to sell off their laptop business to them?

Yep, long before IBM decided to sell off the thinkpad line, Lenovo had been the OEM manufacturer of the thinkpads.

As long as the build quality is there, I don't really care about some fancy stickers.

as long as it says "thinkpad" i will be fine with that... but don't make the "lenovo" larger than the "thinkpad" as i know these laptops as THINKPAD and not LENOVO

heh, it's fine but in an artist perspective, the IBM logo gave the thinkpads a bit of color.

I assume the lid will also lose the IBM

If I was to order a titanium ThinkPad, does that mean the entire notebook is in titanium? Does the titanium look resemble that of a mac book pro?

No. The cover is simply a Titanium colored cover. It's made of a metal - maybe a Titanium Alloy.

they will be releasing the T61 w/ a titanium lid option? I totally missed that.

and personally, i'm pretty bummed about losing the IBM logo. like you guys said, it brought a small bit of color, and it was iconic.

I will use the old IBM sticker to replace the new one.

No, the T series never had a titanium colored lid cover, and most likely will not in the foreseeable future.

That titanium lid was an option on the Z series.

Actually, which sticker you get will be an option if you're buying as a business (they can keep the IBM logo or go with the new ThinkPad logo). For consumers, it's my understanding that all machines will have the new ThinkPad logo and it won't be an option to customize.

It's a shame this happened to BIG BLUE but what can we do. I have a T60p
and right out of the box I had a faulty motherboard / video card it took me 2 days to diagnose it. But finally after 3 trips to Lenovo EZServ and a personally signed letter they listened to me and replaced the motherboard. After that it has been working like a champ. The laptop is great and fully loaded. The IBM name was the reason I spent money and bought the machine usually I custom build my own desktops. I am happy with the quality of the machine and especially the design. Lenovo it looks like you know what you're doing with the legendary THINKPADS. IBM or Lenovo The Legend Lives ON!!!
