I don't want to buy direct from Lenovo. I don't believe in paying sales tax online. Where can I get a budget priced T60 for the best deal? $1,200-$1,400 with fingerprint reader. 14" or 15" screen, doesn't matter to me.

in usa, look for sales at cost central.
Or consider the IBM certified used ones, which also go on sale (they had T60p in your price range recently, and lesser models for under $1000). The T60's on there will be like new, except for the short warranty. They are typically units from corporate customers that have gone off-lease. Sometimes they're from corp execs or managers who never even used it!
In canada, the best bet is to look for promotions is on visaperks.ca, sometimes those even cost less on there than in the USA -
if you look the price of T43P on visaperks.ca you get the price > $4000.
now, that doesn't seem to be budget price.
look only in USA, forget Canada (recently I bought Sony digital voice recorder in US for $124. In Canada it was priced $250! Conclusion is clear: CANADA WILL ALWAYS BE 40% MORE EXPENSIVE THAN USA) -
That T43p was $1300 on visaperks during august and sept.
Actually right now the nice T60 200772u costs less in canada (on visaperks) than in the US
And some X60's cost less in canada than in the US right now too.
You have to look for the promotions. -
"That T43p was $1300 on visaperks during august and sept. "
so what's so special about october then?
what i am saying is: if you spend sufficient time searchig across USA online shops YOU'LL ALWAYS FIND 30% CHEAPER THAN IN CANADA -
I find on Visaperks.. the deals are on systems that are TOP SELLERS.. they come either pre-bundled with items or are popular systems.
You can't really configure the systems except basic items like ram, and wifi options.. -
Find me an online US retailer that sells it for $862 including shipping. Nada.
Plus, if you buy it from visaperks you can return it for 30 days, even if opened/used.
But if you buy it from an online US retailer, it's final sale, period. -
you are comparing frogs with apples now, but even then you are looking at $2000:

B.S.
yur dead link which, in any event, is not visaperks -
I already have a T43P. I was asking for pricing on the T60.
-

-
That's not helpful, son. Before someone else posts a dumb comment. No used T60's price quotes either.

If you go to this link:

and click Shop Now, then you get to this link:

Everybody can check this.
It costs thousands and thousands of dollars on visaperks.ca -
I just got a 14.1 sxga+ t60 with 6 cell, 512 mb ram, 80gig hd, dvd burner, 2GHz CD for 1299...but it was student deal.
-
did it come WITH 6-cell battery or you had to pay for it? same for wireless card? same for Bluetooth? did you pay extra for these?
what graphic card did you get? x1300/64?
how much did you pay for this deal? -
sorry , I just saw you got it for $1299...
-
I can get it for (paying extra for wi-fi card $47CAN, assuming bluetooth and 6-cell battery included?) $1597CAN which is around $1400US, free shipping to Canada.
Seems good deal compared you had student discount, i.e. just $100US difference! -
I got a 6 cell battery, x1300, bluetooth and the 3945 wireless card.
-
On the visaperks.ca site I read this:
"Savings are redeemable in Canadian dollars, unless otherwise specified, only by online shoppers paying in full with VISA® cards issued in Canada, subject to the terms and conditions published on the participating merchant's Web site. Offers void where prohibited, taxed or restricted by law."
So I take it visaperks deals are not available to USA folks. Not even if a USA resident opens a Canadian Visa account, since the laptop would no doubt be taxed when shipped to the USA.
Is there any other similar Visaperks site for those of us in the USA?
Thanks,
Louis -
prices on visaperks.ca can often be beat by the promotions at U.S. sites like cost central or the promotions on lenovo.com
mind you, the advantage of visaperks is that there's a 30-day no-hassle return policy, even for opened/used product. -
Thanks for the extra info on T60's. Ski Bunny, can you post your pic as well.
Where's the best price on T60's??
