    Hello everybody,

I am currently deciding my next notebook purchase, and I am almost decided on a 14" SXGA+ T61 with discrete GPU and a 9-cell battery. However, I am having a hard time deciding between a T61 w/NVS140M or a T61p w/FX570M.

I am aware that the trade-off is GPU power vs battery life, but how much so?

How much battery life will I lose going with the 128MB FX570M?
How much gaming power will I lose with the NVS140M?

The problem is that many owner comments concern the 14.1"w 140M (which has different batteries) or the 15.4" T61p (which has a more powerful version of the FX570M), and sometimes it is not clear what configuration they are talking about.

I found a post that specified 10W power consumption for the NVS140M vs. 35W for the FX570M. Are these figures correct?

Thanks in advance for your comments!

How much battery life will I lose going with the 128MB FX570M? Not much.
How much gaming power will I lose with the NVS140M? A lot.

What games are you planning to play?

I don't think that the FX570M is THAT MUCH more powerful than the 140M. Eventually it comes down to how much the video card can take away from the CPU so that the CPU can do other stuff. But the T7300 and up CPUs got enough processing power so don't worry so much, games will run. Well, if you're so concerned about that extra 5 frames/second that you could get with the FX card then go for it

I've got mine with the 140M, same 4:3 display .. runs very nice.
