Aight y'all..I am almost certain I am going to order Lenovo, prob the R61, but I am still having doubts..Which one would y'all recommend? I don't game! I like the looks of the Lenovos but I know it isn't all in the look! I'm fixing to call a rep and talk to them...any question I should ask before doing so?

Also I was told not to buy an IBM by someone, he said that you would have to buy IBM software, but this didn't make sense to me as I thought it was the OS that decided what ran or not, not the brand of computer...Am I correct? Thanks

possibly delivery is a concern. for other questions regarding the R61 you're about to purchase, you should list out the functions you want to have in that machine and then see if you have any question. and don't forget to ask if they have any current discount :)

thinkpads are no apple monsters, therefore, thinkpads are not software-dependent. you're correct!

The differences between the T and R series are minimal (for the 14.1" models). In essence, the R61 is just a slightly thicker T61. Basically, it boils down to this:

If you want WWAN capability and a thinner shell (.2"), then go for the T61.

Unless you do 3D rendering or stuff of the sorts, the more powerful graphics card in the T61p won't make a difference to you.

If you're looking at a 15.4" model, definitely go for the T61. The only differences between the 14.1" models are that the R61 is thicker, does not have WWAN capability, and lacks the better graphics card of the T61p. But you get the option for a Blu-ray drive in the R61 if you want it.

Like vi3tscorpian said, it's a good idea to make a list of the things you want to do with your laptop. As for delivery concerns, I ordered my R61 on 11/28; it shipped on 12/1, and got to my doorstep at 12/6 (damned customs).

Since you don't game...you don't need the T61...the R61 has each feature that the T61 has (except high end graphics), and costs less...

    Go with an R61...

You can get a glossy screen on the R series if you like that sort of thing.

The person who told you about IBM software does not know what they are talking about

if the R series is significantly lower in price than a T series with a similar configuration, I would definitely go with the R....however if the price gap is less than 100, the T series is definitely the way to go...T series has better resale value as well.
