Hi,
I'd just about settled on a T61p NH07XUK but then read on here and the Lenovo site about the Turbo Memory option.
Sounds great - So I've been looking for a model with similar spec to below in the UK but not found one yet. The only one I can see is the NH0BPUK but that has smaller disk.
Does anyone know a model or a site I can check specs (or even better, choose a build) please?
The turbo doesn't seem to be all that common.
Thanks for reading this far![]()

First, I have Turbo memory installed. It hasn't caused me any pain (fortunately), but I don't know that it increases performance all that much. Reviews vary in their opinions, and it matters a lot exactly what you are doing. Bottom line, I would not let Turbo be a deciding factor in selecting a model. The other factors matter a whole lot more. I assume that you cannot go to the Lenovo site and configure a CTO model exactly as you want it?

I think the best road for you to take would be to configure a thinkpad to those specs, but only select 1gb ramm on one stick and then the cheapest hard drive. Buying new ramm and a new hard drive from a site like newegg.com is pretty much painless and installing it is a breeze. This way you can have The Turbo Memory, A large and fast hard drive, plus even more than 2gb of ramm for less.
I suggest this hard drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822145160
And this set of ram if you are running 32-bit:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231116
And this for 64-bit:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820144066
Make sure to select which version you want: 32-bit or 64-bit
After you have all said parts, follow the manual that came with your thinkpad to install the ramm and hard drive (Wear latex gloves so You don't accidently transfer static onto the hardware). After that just follow the clean install guide feature on this Forum.

Wrath is correct, you should opt for the lowest upgradeable configurations, and then buy the parts yourself. A lot of money can be saved in this way for any computer purchase, with absolutely no difference in setup or performance.
I suppose the only possible issue is the warranty on those parts (or the laptop itself?) if they were to fail. You also have the option to eBay the parts left over from the upgrades or save them if you need to make use of the Lenovo warranty. I'm not sure if they will honor the warranty if there are non-Lenovo parts inside, but you can check that out.
You can also purchase the Intel Turbo Memory from amazon.com for a little over $30 shipped! -
Thanks a lot for the advice.
I just wanted it to run 'at 11' out of the box but maybe I'm just being greedy (and lazy)
I didn't realise the Tubo Memory could be fitted afterwards. I'd read that it was either that or the wireless WAN. Presumably, it's that the memory or the WWAN occupy the same internal space.
I'll go for a model (I like the spec of your ones, wrath and bsodder) and get some turbo memory myself later if it feels like it needs it. (I bet I'll only be using less than half the grunt anyway)
The UK Lenovo site shop.lenovo.co.uk is the powered by Insight who I was buying from in the first place. It doesn't seem to offer a 'configure a build' option. Do you know of a UK one?
The dollar sites seem to be much cheaper but work are paying for this and it has to come from a UK company - probably Insight.
Cheers - really appreciate the help. -
The Turbo memory does occupy the same slot as the WWAN - it is an either/or situation. You may be stuck with a preconfigured model due to your circumstances. I have heard in a number of threads that a CTO is not available in UK - has something to do with having to pay duty on them, and it is too much of a bother to figure duty on each machine. People order them from US sites, which works as long as you don't get caught - not an option for a biz purchase. Anyway, good luck on finding a good build. Tpads are very accessible for hardware upgrades, and some excellent guides are available online.

Thanks bsodder.
Funny enough, I searched for a build like yours and ended up back at the Insight one I was originally trying to get Turbo included with. I'll go for that and get some extra RAM and the Turbo to add on later.
Thanks for your help and advice.
