I'm looking for the lightest, yet most powerful Pentium M powered Thinkpad Lenovo made.. Something between 1.8ghz and 2.13ghz..
So far i've seen that the X41 is quite possibly the fastest non-ULV Pentium M powered one at 2.7 lbs with standard battery.
Did Lenovo make something lighter with a fullspeed Pentium M?
Thanks,
Jay

X41 will be the fastest with a Pentium M like you already mentioned. However, it uses a much slower 1.8'' hard drive which will be a bottleneck for your notebook. May I ask why you want a Pentium M processor? Price issue?

Oh I guess the X41 is a Low Voltage Pentium M.. Hmm, what are my options for a regular Pentium M (Banias/Dothan) in a Thinkpad?
-
Because i'm looking for an older, extremely lightweight with good performance laptop.. I already have a Dell 1420 powerhouse on order, but I want a spare notebook to pass to my girlfriend when she needs something on the go..
What's going to have a 2.5" harddrive for speed then and good performance in a lightweight package from Lenovo? Nothing extremely new, I will be on the hunt for a used model. -
IBM ThinkPad X32.

Sp00n, you're awesome. But wow, that X32 is one ugly machine!
But does it come with anything faster than a 1.6ghz? If not by factory means, could I put a 2.13ghz in myself or does Lenovo solder everything down? And i'm assuming I could potentially put a 7200rpm drive in the X32 to further reduce the bottlenecking?
Thanks,

I don't believe the processor is soldered on but I'm not too sure about that. Someone else on here probably knows more than I do about that issue. You should have no problem installing a 7200RPM drive in it.

Is the X41's 1.8" drive that dreadful?

Look for the X32 series of laptops. It has firewire, a dedicated Mobility Radeon 7500 card and has a Pentium M you're looking for. They go up to 2.something gigahertz if that matters to you. Personally anything over 1.7ghz penitum M in terms of performance in unnecessary unless you've got a specific need for it. Loading firefox or that PDF won't happen any faster. Fast processors are needed for stuff like encoding, folding or rendering.

Sounds good and thanks for everybody's help and info.. the X32 sounds like a winner.

There's no touchapd on the X32 if that's an issue.
Which Thinkpad with Pentium M (non-ULV) is the lightest?
