I'm partial to both as each have their merits. But it'll be cool to have a ThinkPad that sports the classic 'gang colors' before Lenovo flips it over to the ThinkPad sticker in '08.

BTW, is Lenovo no longer allowed to use the "IBM logo" from 08?

They are allowed to use the IBM logo till 2010, but according to http://www.lenovoblogs.com/insidethebox/?p=85 they plan on completely phasing out the IBM logo on all their products. The decision to keep the IBM logo is strictly for market familiarity which Lenovo hopes to replace with their name over the years they've been making ThinkPads.

Both do look nice, but I prefer the old IBM logo.

It's something known to the ThinkPad community, representing the ThinkPad line's heritage, where it's been, and how much it means.

The new logo is nice, too. Just a bit more plain.

I like the new logo much better than the old one. I find it to be more modern without being flashy.

I respect that many like the IBM logo better. But I find it strange (even a bit annoying) that people are clinging on to the old brand considering that the company is not called IBM anymore, let alone owned by IBM. On the other hand Lenovo knowing this, has been playing it safe and provided people with the old logo. Simple business sense.

I for one think it is about time they remove themselves from the IBM name (as they will starting next year). I don't even want to guess how much outcry there will be when that happens.

Things change and so do business'. IMO it is time to move on.

I prefer the old logo as it brings a little nostalgia to the laptop, you know where its come from to get here. A bit like a modern car with the original “Ferrari” badge or “Mercedes” badge.
