I personally love the Z61t (when it is not jacking up on me), T61 with integrated GPU, R61 (14.1 inch) and R400, X60/s & X200/s... T4x.. T400s.....
They are my favourites.... what about you....

What difference does it make?

If I were to buy a T series again, I will really miss the Flexview option on the 15" T60. But generally, I think Lenovo is doing a great job, and each generation improves over the last. The new Tx00 and Xx00 have a nice jump in build quality and thermal management.

x200 Tablet due to it's versatility, light weight, and superb display. I also have great respect for my old T40 as it served me reliably for five years (although I did need the GPU replaced under warranty) and it had an at the time unmatched combination of build quality, weight, display size, thinness, performance, and battery life.
-
I love my T500, but if I had the money, I would love to get a T400s, X200s, or X301.
-
I'm on a ThinkPad buying spree (nothing like lead org's though) and so far I have been really impressed with both ThinkPads I've owned. I especially like the X200 right now just because I really need something lightweight and almost bought a netbook. Right now, as I sit here and type away from Windows 7 on my X200, I'm really glad I didn't.

allfiredup Notebook Virtuoso
Of the ones I've actually owned, the T43 was easily my favorite. Back then, I was traveling at least five days every week and the T43 (14") was a reliable workhorse every step of the way!
I had been lusting over the X200s since it was introduced last year until recently. Now the T400s is the object of my affection..... -
T61 (standard screen) with Integrated GPU is my favorite.
-
I love my CFL-WUXGA W500, but would still replace it for an LED WUXGA-W700 with switchable graphics. I prefer the W700's Nvidia gpu over the W500's ATI - Linux distros and Nvidia drivers are better than ATI - and a little bigger screen would be nice. But heh - there are always compromizes...
-
Fortunately, i have recently able to suppress my yearning to go for another shopping spree... i am thinking about the T400s/X200s/W700..... i did get a half broken X301 from my work (well i broke it) and the IT support said i could have it, since they have moved on to Toughbooks and Dell's Toughbook imitation for field work now..... I would need to get the entire X301 case replaced, or i could just keep it in the current state, which looks like it had climbed out of a dust bin and fell from 10 m onto a concrete floor. I kind of feel bad for ruining such a fine machine.
-
that's cool..i'm waiting for the next release to get a t510...the off centered screen puts me off but the flexibility of the whole system settings seems pretty nice...having seen the t400s and the new x series with the centered screen makes me believe this is going to be the trend with forthcoming thinkpads...
-
I love the form of x61s (12.1" 4:3), the light weight and battery life of the x200s, and the build quality of T61.
My ideal thinkpad would be a combination of all these.
I hate the (vertically) narrow screen of x200s. -
I Love My W700

The best Thinkpad that I have personally owned is my T21. I can't stress enough how much abuse it has gone through and still manages to work. I don't really use it for much now, but it had been my 'go everywhere, do everything' computer for years. Except for when my cat landed on it(he was jumping from a bookshelf to the desk where it sat on) and broke the LCD, it has never failed. Not once.
My X60s and T60p seem to be cut from the same cloth as the T21, so I'm sure that several years from now they'll be sitting on my shelf as proud museum pieces as well. I'm getting quite a collection going, I think. Haha. -
I don't know how the people like ThinkPad x200s - I so angry because x200s have not CD/DVD burner !!!! and Finger Security other
-
If having an internal optical drive is really important, the X300 is a good bet as it does have one integrated. -
You just don't quite have the general qualifications/compromises for the niche the smaller X series provide to.
Get a Dell E4200 or HP Elitebook 2530p (though weighs a lot more). -
-
-
I agree with that.
I got an x301 and that has an optical drive, but I immediately swapped it out for a battery. -
With the optical drive cut out of my T500, the headphone and mic ports could be moved to the right edge, and still have room for an HDMI or eSATA connection, both of which I would gladly take over the optical drive (which, to date I have used only 4 times since February, when I got my T500 - burning my recovery disks, installing my dictionary program, installing my antivirus, and copying a disk for a friend).
My biggest issues with the X200s, which would otherwise be the perfect system for me are:
1.- no integrated webcam
2.- no touchpad, which I do use sometimes, even though I mainly use TrackPoint -
Some people do use the drive, while other don't..... You can't please all....
Also the ultrabay drive slots allow a spare hdd for those whom use it. But i hate headphone jack at the front though.... as i can't use it on the lap sitting down when i use the headphone port. -
I don't think 14-15inch should have the optical drive removed. Those are usually more like mobile workstations and desktop replacements for many.
-
I appreciate about the long battery and thin of ThinkPad x200s. But If x200s does not optical drvice, I think it's like netbook eePC of Asus or anyone else .
Anyway, as you. I like ThinkPad. And I have an advice for the people who want to configuration/build Lenovo laptop in lenovo.com - be careful review and build Accessories & upgrades. I lost Finger Security because overwhelmed by a lot of accessories. Only $20 for Finger Security but I lost it !! -
Have you ever used a netbook? Do not insult capable ultraportables
!

Comparing X series to a netbook... is like comparing Merc with Hyundai... both are cars but obviously not to the same standard.
-
All of your comments, I have a peace of mind that I using a good technology - x200s
All of the problems of x200s (optical drive, finger security) I could upgrade after order !
That's okay to train skilled build laptop -
Loved my T42 for years. Only had to buy a touchpad once. Now I've moved on to a T400 and x200. I love both of them for different reasons.
-
Well it seems like we have something in common!
-
I loved my W500 till I done went and broked it.
I lie of course, I still love it, even as a 6lb paperweight. -
-
noobism, in short.
Failed BIOS update, my fault. Waiting to send it in under my warranty but can't do that for another few weeks.
(Using a desktop keyboard is the pits btw) -

I stay away from bios updates on all laptops.... i am just bit paranoid, in actuality it is probably not as bad as i said....
-
Bill -
Most bios are flashable though. In the old days it was scarier.

Said step will remain anonymous however, so as to save what little dignity I have left. -
It'd be nice if you would post the mistake you made so others don't have the same misfortune!

or maybe he just inadvertently shut it down during the middle of the process.... i have done it on my friend's old laptops before accidently.
