Let's have a thread where people can post what their current pick would be right now, if they were to purchase either an X60 or a T60.

Both through the normal site with discounts, or the EPP deal that is out right now ( http://www.fatwallet.com/t/18/673902/ ).

I think this will be a great help for those of us (like me) who are thinking about buying a notebook, but not sure what the best deal is.

If you need battery life, the X60 is perfect, although it is expensive and lacks an optical drive. The X60 is definitely a laptop I would buy if I were looking for mobility, but with the P4 I currently own, that is obviously not what I need. That's why I'd pick the popular T60. But it's not as if the X60 lacks merit.

Also, post Canadian [deals] and discounts if possible. That would help others as well.

Don't forget the R and the Z as well. Since I just picked up an R, that would be my vote. While not quite as sturdy as the T, it is very good considering the price. My notebook doesn't leave the house much so I don't need the extra goodness of the T.

I would pick the T60 only if it comes with a SXGA+ screen (1400x1050). Otherwise, I would take the X60.

Any case, that is what happened to me. Couldn't find any good deals on the T60, so I got myself a X60.

I bought a T60, but my first pick was the X60. The reason I went with the T was not for the higher res screen or the optical drive, but for the fact that it has a real video card. I'm going to be starting 3D solid modeling in engineering classes, so I needed a notebook with a real video card for doing that. I think the college has the programs on their lab computers, but they're P4 3.0's with 512 ram, so they're fairly terrible, lol.

I bought a T60 just few days ago. After shipping/hanndling and tax, it was $1093. I got the config. price by following the "HOWTO: Get a Fully Customizable ThinkPad for Cheap" guide in this forum.

    My T60:

    CPU- C2D T7200
    Screen- 14.1" TFT
Memory- 1 Dimm 1GB (I really perfer this over 2x512Mb, so I can upgrade later)
    Video Card- X1300
Hard Drive- 60GB 5400rpm (I may upgrade it a year down the road)
Optical- DVD ROM (I have burner in my desktop)
    Battery- 9 cell
    Fingerprint reader
    Thinkpad ABG

Since I have my Toshiba at home, I need an ultra portable. So I went with the x60s.

T60... it's cheaper better value and i dont like the 12" screen on my X (it's too small)

I think the ~13" thinkpad needs to make a comeback again!
