i recently did a clean install of xp on my t400. i managed to hunt down all the drivers i needed for it except one (according to device manager anyways). device manager lists one remaining "unknown device" and i have no idea what driver this one requires. can anybody please tell me?

    Intel(R) ICH9M-E LPC Interface Controller

a name or link to lenovo's site would be great. i've tried installing most of the drivers with the word "intel", but nothing has worked yet.

The LPC interface controller driver is usually included in the Intel Chipset Installation Utility.

Download the latest chipset driver for the GM/PM45 chipset from Intel's site, or download the chipset driver from Lenovo.

EDIT: Forgot to ask. Have you installed the chipset driver and restarted ? :p

    do you mean this one?

    Intel Chipset Support for Windows 2000, XP and Vista - ThinkPad R400, R500, T400, T500, W500, W700, X200, X200s, X200 Tablet, X301

if so, i already installed that and rebooted multiple times because it was one of the earliest drivers i installed. or did you mean another one?

Download the chipset driver and the matrix storage manager (HDD in AHCI?) from here, for your notebook's chipset.

i already do have the matrix storage manager driver installed.

crap, i just found out what it was. it is the intel TPM, which i don't want and now i have no way to uninstall it, so i have to format again :(

any ideas besides disabling it in the bios?

edit: maybe i should make a new thread since it's a new problem now.
