Ordered the 61p, but I think I'm just going to get another drive. Anyone know who Dell is getting the 200GB 7200rpm drive from? Is this something commercially available to the rest of the planet?

"Hitachi is offering a notebook hard drive that will definitely be a boon to regular notebook users who find that their current 5,400 rpm hard drives are wanting when it comes to performance. Touted by Hitachi to be the fastest notebook drive in the world that comes with encryption technology, the Travelstar 7K200 ships in just one capacity - 200GB. One of the main reasons for the 7K200’s superior speed is the spin rate of 7,200 rpm compared to the regular 5,400 rpm hard drives that you find available in most notebooks today. In fact, the Travelstar 7K200 can also be included with an optional hard drive level bulk data encryption for greater data security. Based on a 2.5″ form factor, this new 7K200. Dell and Alienware will be first notebook manufacturers to offer the Travelstar 7K200, and notebooks from both ranges will feature the ability to carry up to 400GB of space thanks to a RAID array.

According to Neil Hand, the vice president of Dell’s worldwide consumer marketing product group, “Today’s technology enthusiasts demand performance from every facet of their notebook computer. Incorporating best-in-class features, like the high-performance Travelstar 7K200, underscores Dell and Alienware’s commitment to meet and exceed our mobile customers’ expectations.”

Hitachi boasts that the new Travelstar 7K200 takes up just about the same amount of power as current 5,400 rpm drives, and the same goes for heat output and acoustics. In fact, the Travelstar 7K200 holds the distinction of being the only third generation 7,200 rpm product. It also offers up to an increase of 33% in application performance when compared to its contemporaries. "

So, how is the heat output of 5400 and the new 7200 rpm dirves? Low, middlin' or hot?

I think Hitachi makes the only 7200rpm 200GB drive. And why the heck are you asking about Dell here?
