When I get my new laptop X61s there will be 1 gb ram, but I do not think that is enough, so which ram should I buy? Is there something with dual ram, so the ram need to be identical?

The X61s use PC5300 memory. If they sticks are the same size, they will run in dual channel mode which offers a slight performance advantage. Using the same brand probably won't hurt. I personally buy on price . Almost all will work. Memory is pretty cheap right now. I'm using two sticks of Patriot memory in my R60. I haven't had issues.

No need same size to use dual channel mode. My X61s has 2.5G (2G+512M) memory running in dual channel mode.
