hi i am a student who primarily uses my t400 for papers and stuff and i was wondering what software i should remove. like which of the the thinkvantage software i should remove and the netwaiting and roxio business?

What problem are you trying to solve?

If I'm not mistaken, NetWaiting is a part of Windows Vista Business. Roxio is the packaged CD/DVD-burning software, so I would suggest keeping it.
You can remove pretty much all of the ThinkVantage software, although I would highly suggest keeping Power Manager and Active Protection. I find Presentation Director to be useful as well, but you may not, so that can be removed as well. -
Power Manager and Active Protection are a must. You get better battery life, better options when Power Manager is installed. Active Protection is good because it stops the hard drive when shock or movement are detected so that you don't damage it while moving/etc. Everything else is up to you and what you like to use. I advise everyone to atleast run the program and check out the features before deleting.

The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
I really like Power Manager. I am also currently using Easy Eject to remove my laptop from the Ultrabase and am also using active protection.

If the programs aren't hampering your lappy's performance, I see no reason to mess around with it. It saves you the bother and may even come in handy if you need it later. For eg, there're those who dislike Access Connections, but I find it quite neat, and I like its interface.

What does Lenovo power manager have that windows 7 power manager doesn't?
-
Charge Thresholds, More power customizations specifically to Thinkpads to enhance battery life + life span, switchable graphics interface (if applicable), battery maintenance, and accurate battery life estimates. This software directly interfaces between the battery in your laptop and the laptop and knows everything that is going on between them. Windows power manager is written generally for all laptops and it is not this specific. In my opinion Power Manager is the best piece of software for Thinkpads.
Which software can I remove from t400
