Does the Minidock convert the VGA signals, i.e. does it spoil the signal when using a 1900*1200 screen? Or is everything fine?
This is my main concern about the T400 right now.

Anybody using the T400 with the dock on an external screen?
-
I'm using a T400 in the Advanced Dock (the bigger one) with a 1600 by 1200 monitor, and it outputs a digital signal via the DVI connection.
-
Does anyone know if this will work with a DisplayPort WQXGA monitor?
-
When using the DVI on the Advanced Mini Dock you have a pure digital image - it will not be spoiled.
You must have a discrete video card and you must be using it in order to use DVI. I.e. with switchable graphics you must be switched to discrete before you can use DVI.
When using the discrete video card, you can use resolutions up to 2560x1600 on the Minidock's DVI, so yes, 30" LCD's are supported using dual-link DVI.
But how do you want to connect your displayport monitor? DVI->Displayport adapters will only support up to 1920x1200, I believe. -

That is why I am very happy the Advanced Mini Dock has dual-link DVI.
Without it I would not be able to use my WQXGA screen with my Thinkpad. I love WQXGA!
I have Thinkpad W500 and 30" WQXGA monitor and I can use WQXGA using Advanced Mini Docks' DVI as long as discrete video card is being used. I cannot get it to work with the integrated video card.
Please note dual-link DVI is not dual DVI.
Dual DVI means there are 2 DVI ports. This allows you to use two LCD display's, one for each port.
Dual-link DVI means there are two data links in a single DVI port/cable. This doubles the throughput of DVI and allows you to use WQXGA. -
Just so there is no mistake, is there a part # for the "Advanced Mini-Dock" - T400?
please -
I'm not sure if T400 has a different Advanced Mini-Dock but the one I bought for my T61p has 250410U.

I am considering purchasing a T400 and an Advanced Mini Dock for use on a WQXGA (2560x1600) monitor. The W series website actually states that they support WQXGA (2560x1600) on external monitors, whereas the T series websites say that the maximum supported resolution is 2048 x 1536. Can you say for certainty that this will work with the T series? Have you tested it or know someone who has? I will purchase one if so.
Who has a T400 + Advanced MiniDock and uses DVI?
