I just ordered one tonight for a nice price. I glanced at the review for it here at notebookreview and I'm wondering how it will compare to my Z61m. I may sell it after I get it if I don't like it a lot better than my Z61m.

    Here are the specs:

    Core 2 Duo T7200 2GHz
    1024MB PC2-5300
    100GB 7200rpm 2.5" SATA
    15.4" WSXGA+ 200 nits
    ATI X1400 128MB
    DVD-RW Burner
    Intel 3945 a/b/g
    Bluetooth
    Fingerprint reader
    9-cell battery
XP Professional w/ upgrade to Vista Business
    3 year EasyServ warranty

    Subtotal: $1495.35

What do you guys think? I configured it on the main Lenovo site and that config would of been over $2100 at least for the new T60 widescreen which Lenovo isn't offering as part of their Holiday Special.

If it's got the specs you want then I say it's great. Hope you like it.

I think it's bs that w/o the holiday sale it can cost over $500 more than the 4:3 version.

I really really want them to include it in their holiday sale b/c none of the pre-configured models match what I need. (I have to have wxga so my options are limited) I'll be calling a rep soon to try to negotiate something.

I noticed that the WXGA is only 150 nits brightness while the WSXGA+ is 200 nits. I don't know how much of a difference that is though.

My R60 is 150 nits. It has a nice range from pretty dim to fairly bright. I don't think you'll have any issues.

Its funny because up here in canada, when going through visaperks.ca the widescreen t60s are cheaper that the 4:3, by quite a bit. The widescreen models are by far the best deals; the extra size however puts me off.

The widescreen version is a little wider but it still only weighs 5.5 lbs which is good for a 15.4" widescreen.

Well, oddly, after the review of the widescreen T I'm actually now more interested in the Z.

Really? Why is that? I have a Z61m now so if I don't really like the T60 I may not keep it.

    1599.20 + tax EPP pricing

Main difference between mine and yours...
    - 120GB 5400rpm vs. 100GB 7200rpm
    - 802.11abg n vs 802.11abg (I don't really need 802.11n right now, but I will take it)
    - 6 cell batt vs. 9 cell batt

Yours if definitely a better deal but I don't have access to educational pricing.

I went the other direction. Had the Z61m on order... then canceled it and order the T60 widescreen. I like the lighter weight and thinner design.

Well, I decided to cancel my T60 order. I just got my Z61m back in October and it has a T2500 2GHz, 2 gigs PC2-5300, 100GB 7200rpm, Intel a/b/g, 9 cell, ect. so not a whole lot of point in me upgrading right now to a T7200. I'll wait till next year and upgrade when it's more worth it.

I also had an issue with my new AMEX Preferred Rewards Gold card since I got like 3 new personal AMEX cards at once and they want me to fax them some information to confirm my identity so my account is on hold till then lol. It's great that AMEX has these security measures but they're a real hassle compared to Chase and Citi.

Seems like not a lot people are interested in the new T60W. But, I still ordered one yesterday, and estimated ship date is 12/09/2006.

    Cheers,

I like the higher weight and thicker design. It tells me there's no compromising in design for the sake of portability....it all went for sturdiness and heat management.

But, mostly, the Samsung screen on the T60W sounds way inferior to the maxbright on the Z61M. At this point, the only thing holding me back is that $150 + $100 discount on sonystyle. I'd end up with an FE790 with much better GPU and high contrast glossy screen and would spend almost $300 less.
