I'll have to check if my 365XD still works. Last time, I checked it did.
Next one would be R50 bought in 2004 and I am still using it. Although I tried to retire it since I got X200s last year, I still leave it on 24/7 at the moment.

Wow, thanks, Mandrake.
Went to write a review..... -
iSeries 1200, 700mhz P3- 64mb RAM- 40GB. Still working with a "fresh" install of Win2K :S.
Firefox took about 20minutes to load though roflmao! -
On my ThinkPad X30, the stats are:
Power_On_Hours 31546
Power_Cycle_Count 2429
These numbers, however, do not tell the whole story: I upgraded to this hard drive in October 2005, so the drive is two years younger than the laptop. -
That's for the newer (2006) drive.
Power_On_Hours 12573
Power_Cycle_Count 1439
Will reload the old one tomorrow.
Meanwhile, just finished writing a small review with some pics of my R40. -
I do still switch on my 760CS to play dos games or amuse myself in OS/2

I figured I'd make a post and see who is running some older systems out there. Turned out that a lot of you guys are running older Thinkpads, which is neat ! I plan on keeping my T61 for at least another 4-5 years (while using it everyday), and the same with my X301.

I've only had my T61 for 2 years, but I used to leave it on 24/7 for about a year and a half. Not one thing has gone wrong with it in that time and it looks the same as the first day I got it. I'd lie to say I'm not having doubts about replacing it...

Yes, I beleive someone else has said it pefactly. "You'd know very quick if you have a lemon". Since almost everyone in this thread has at least a 1+ year old laptop, more then likely they will remain trouble free for some time to come. Since most problems usually happen withen the first few weeks/month from the date of purchace.
I have a motto: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
All I use my T61 for is internet surfing, E-mailing, music, etc. Basically just home needs. I have no reason to upgrade to anything "bigger or better" anytime soon.
Unless Lenovo will bring back an IPS screen lol -
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it" - is my motto as well ,m8
Are IPS screens that much better? -
From what I have read, and seen, yes. Worlds better.
The viewing angles are like a night and day difference. I beleive there is a comparison of a Thinkpad with, and one without IPS, and you would not beleive the difference between the two screens. At almost every angle, the IPS screen was 100% perfect. Bright, deep, rich colors, etc.
I believe the last Thinkpad to have it was the T60. -
IPS suppose to produce minimal colour shift when viewed all from all angles.

i use a t20 for a media server kinda thing.
i fixed up my dads t30 and gave it to my little brother. -
I bet ThinkPads are the oldest still working laptops out there
It's just unbelievable to see so many "Ancients" still serving their owners! Whooah! -
lineS of flight Notebook Virtuoso

I work on some IPS screen in computer labs recently (older apple cinema screen) the color are more even, it look slightly better on the eyes and the viewing angle is god sent. I still wouldn't pay the premium for it, altough the dell e-ips screen look tempting.

I guess Like Benz compared to BMW and AUDI. -
i still have a working t43 that's been in use since start of 2004. the hardware is still awesome, keyboard, trackpoint and everything. the only one that sucks now is the software (windows). it's my favourite laptop, so comfortable to use.

A friend of the family works for a grocery store (IT) and all of thier IT personnel have take-home IBM T60's. Most of them are very happy with them. They are running Windows XP, and are very fast despite thier age.
As for my T61, the only slight sign of age is I'm starting to notice the keys getting a little oil/glossy coated. Nothing a good cleaning can't fix I suppose -
using my t41 as my primary notebook which is 7 years old! love the damn thing.

Who here has the oldest (actively in daily use) Thinkpad ?
