I just checked the parts for my X60. The keyboard is listed as:

    42T3499 42T3531 KEYBOARD FRU YES

Can't find this FRU in FAQ. Anyone knows the make of this keyboard?

Am I correct in assuming this is a custom order? Unfortunately the initial purchase configuration list Lenovo provides doesn't list the real numbers for a customized machine. You have to wait until it is built and shipped and they will send you an official configuration list with your serial number. ZaZ's THINKPAD F.A.Q. sticky gives the parts numbers for the T60 keyboard; not sure if they are the same for the X60.

Actually this is listed in the official configuration with my serial number. Do you have any idea? Thanks.

I haven't a clue and a quick search on this forum didn't yield any info. You might try the X60 forum at http://forum.thinkpads.com/index.php If you search the X60 forum there you will find several threads re: keyboards.

On the topic of keyboards: Just got an X60, and figured I could look up the FRU via Thinkvantage button ---> system information ----> Parts and Warranty. However, the menu seems to have changed - no Parts and Warranty section (the Advanced section did not include keyboard). How do you find the FRU numbers without opening the thing up? And - anyone know which FRU is Chicony/Alps/NMB?

FRUs for chicony/alps/NMB is listed in ZaZ's FAQ sticky. Did you order your X60 via lenovo? If so, when the machine shipped you should have received a confirmation e-mail with your serial number and a parts listing.

I'd just like to ask one thing since we're on the subject of Thinkpad keyboards, can you order what manufacturer you want for your notebook? Like if you want a NMB because you find the "click" annoying on the other keyboards.

If its a toss up then I'd be disappointed.

Sorry, no requests can be made, so it's a toss up :(

I guess if you lived across the street from them in China, you could ask the guy during lunch... ;)

Well, I found my deleted email with parts numbers for the X60: the (U.S.) keyboard's FRU is 41W1836. Lenovo's site lists 39T7265 (NMB) and 42T3070 (Chicony). So my keyboard (which feels like an NMB to me) is still a mystery. I had a hard time locating anything on the FAQ page re. FRUS - pardon my retarded development in forum navigation - where would I find it? And thanks!

That parts FRU is a new one to me. But if I had to hazard a guess, I would deduce by process of elimination that it is an ALPS (since you identified the other two)

There are a couple others that are not listed in ZaZ's FAQ,
    : http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=122905

That was a recent thread where I and a couple others described FRU that are not listed anywhere. I guess we can add your fru to the list. My part# is 42T3177 and my FRU# is 42T3209.

I'm thinking it has something to do with the t61 coming out. I like the keyboard I have regardless of who made it, but I am still interested in finding out who made it.

    Anyone??

    Bingo, found it.

    http://www.ip-web.de/ThinkPad/hmm/hmm_T61_61_42x3547.pdf

Do a search in the pdf for your fru. Mine (42T3209) is the Alps. These are the keyboards for the t61 and r61 so I wouldn't be too pleased if this is a smaller keyboard, but still like I said before, I really like my keyboard.

Anyone know what differences there are on the t61 keyboards versus the t60?
