I checked my Type and Serial #
on this item, it shows "39T2851" "RAMBO-VI CD-RW/DVD DRIVE" and I searched on google for "39T2851", it shows 39T2851 IBM LENOVO DVD-RW / CD-RW COMBO
Is this the correct one or Lenovo gave me the wrong part?
    Thanks,

Yah, looks like they screwed up your order. My T61p order has this for my Ultrabay Slim drive:

    42V8172 SBB DVD REC.8XMAXDUAL LAY UB-S

And given Lenovo's stellar support on being able to make changes to orders... it looks like you'll need to get the order cancelled and re-order with the DVD Recordable drive... unless you can work a miracle with a supervisor, but I've yet to hear that happen.

Jedi, Could you look up part info on Lenovo web site and see what is the FRU part # of your DVD Rec.

question on the "42V8172 SBB DVD REC.8XMAXDUAL LAY UB-S", you said in the previous post that this will record DVD's, is it correct to assume that this device will play and record CD's, all current formats.

I have the DVD 8XMax recorder and my parts lookup shows
    39T2828 39T2829 CD-RW/DVD-RW RAMBO-VI DRIVE FRU YES

AFAIK this is not the code from the parts lookup just the order code. Mine showed the same before the unit shipped and I had no serial number to use for parts lookup.

I am fighting with Lenovo right now as they shipped me CDRW drives instead of DVD multi drives and are trying to point the finger at us or the partner, CDW.

Did you order the cdrw or the DVD multi drives and which model of laptop?

    We ordered the t61 (13u) thru CDW/Lenovo.
