Other brands I've handled seem pretty cheap and usually prove to be cheap by breaking.

    1. Build quality and performance

    2. Good price with coupons or from the outlet store

    3. Matte screen and fingerprint logon

I always choose Thinkpads. The only other laptop that I had was Dell Latitude E4200, which was also a very good machine. Unfortunately, Dell discontinued that series. Now I have W510 and X220, and am also considering Thinkpad Tablet.

    1) The matte display.
    2) The build quality.
    3) The trackpoint.
    4) I'm already married therefore I don't need the Apple logo on my laptop.

I have one reason that I hardly ever see.

Software. Lenovo has by far the most useful software of any laptop maker out there. I truly miss the Power Management that the Thinkpads have.... :(

Agree 100%. I love the Power Manager software on this thing.

Theoretically, couldn't you just download the software off of Lenovo's site and run it on your Ideapad?

To me, the brand has always been synonymous with high quality and durability, which has been the case with each of the six TPs I have owned.

The no-nonsense black casing and matte screen give them an "all about business" look and feel.

Screen brightness and battery performance have been two areas I felt could improve.

It might work. It might check for a ThinkPad system though.

It actually worked. It couldn't detect the battery and a lot of the normal information was missing. Like you said, I thought it would see that this was a non-Thinkpad product and not install the program.

    disagree

this puppy runs just fine without all the lenovo mumbo jumbo sheeat running in the background, and then some, just saying. Seriously.

Do you love the extra glamor and flash of lenovo PM ??

From what I hear its mostly a fail

Why do you need that and all the extra processes running ??

Is it helpful in the long run ??

the power manager is helpful if you constantly plugging and unplugging the laptop or if you need micro control of certain aspect of the laptop power management function. If you don't have need for such thing and use the ThinkPad as a desk bound workstation then it may not have that much effect on the battery life.
