I am curious as to why Thinkpads aren't sold in stores like Best Buy, Circuit City, and other electronic stores. Does anybody know why they arent? Some stores carry ideapads, but not thinkpads.

It is not a popular consumer brand in the eyes of Joe Consumer basically. Most people would rather buy the latest HP or Apple notebooks. Lenovo has a stronger following through business purchases and online consumers.
For a time I think Office Max and Office Depot carried a small line of em. I remember with the Z60t was in my local store. -
I saw an R60 at circuit city a few months ago. It's like all business oriented notebooks. You won't find many in retail stores.

all black is not very popular with the average consumer.

What happened to the days when black was sexy and classy (aside from in cars I guess still...).
But, ya, wrong market in B&M. -
too expensive

I don't think Lenovo wants to put up with Bestbuy's return policies.

I saw R61 at local Circuit City.

Sure, it's not the sexiest beast out there, but when my T400 comes in, I'll be sitting in class along with all of my classmates who paid the same amount or more for a 'sexy' laptop with crap for features.
Heh, my best friend told me he's kinda jealous that I'm getting a Lenovo. HE thinks the utilitarian styling is sexy! -
I too dont get why people think my R61 is so old looking. I really like the simple and not flash design! Most people think my laptop is old, but in reality, its much better performing than their hp pavillion with all sorts of blingy lights.

Dell computers were not sold in ANY stores until very recently, its that direct sale business plan that gained them the marketshare they enjoy today.
And Microcenter carries Thinkpads!
Why aren't Thinkpads sold in more stores
