Why didn't we get the TP Edge 11 vs the x120e?

So I was just wondering if anyone knew why the Edge 11 didn't end up in the US? It appears that they are almost the same system. Yes, the Edge 11 clearly has different CPUs but if you look at pictures of the case and layout the x120e appears to be a slight restyling of the Edge designed simply to look more like a traditional TP for the US market. I mean the Edge 11 and the x120e appear to have more in common than even the x100e vs the x120e. Why not just sell the Edge 11 in the US vs creating the x120e (which admittedly is a follow up to the x100e)?
As a follow up, why wouldn't Lenovo make a Fusion based Edge 11 for other markets? Unless volume of Fusion chips is constrained it seems like an easy way to expand the Edge 11 line.
    Just curious.
