Hi,
I have a question or two. I have a college laptop (an IBM R50 or R51--I'm still not sure), and when I shut down or restart the screen flickers blue. Is this a problem, or is it just trying to shut down fast and encountering delays?
Also, when I went on the Lenovo website for driver updates, (I had to use IE), it detected my system as being a "R51" rather than an R50 as the college told me mine was. I sort of wonder as to whether something is kind of screwy--I mean, its a good thing if it's an R51; that's newer, right?? But everything they told me seemed to point out that transfer students get an R50 this year.

What is the machine type? It should be on the bottom of your notebook.

Actually, I emailed the college helpdesk and they told me that the sofomore laptops ARE R50s, but some of the components inside are from R51s. I guess sometimes they fix returned laptops, using newer parts. They say that that's the reason Lenovo auto-detect thought my NB was an R51.
But I still would like to know why the screen flickers
Thanks,
PMZ
Why does my R50's screen flicker when I restart or shut down?
