That's what my 3 month old T60 has, yet I can't find it anywhere on their website for sale and even more distubing, I can't find it anywhere on their support forum.

When I bought this laptop, they had two flexview 15" options - one 1400x1050 and one 1600x1200. I went with the lower res option to help with visibility.

Anyhow, it has a dead pixel now (bright) and the fact that the dead pixel policy section of lenovo's website doesn't even acknowledge a 1400x1050 res 15" (only a 14.1") T60 kinda bothers me. Also the fact that they don't offer it anymore than I can see.

Where there problems with this display panel? Something to do with the new IPS technology?

well, you seem to have a "stuck on" pixel rather than dead. im pretty sure you can run a program that does some flashes black and white and maybe colors on your screen in an attempt to fix that sort of thing.

this is the link to wikipedia, they post the links to several sites you will want to browse through, if for nothing else, to download the program later mentioned

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stuck_pixel

from wikipedia.org, two things to try

    Fixing stuck pixels

    --------

Unlike dead pixels, stuck pixels have been reported to disappear, and there are certain methods to fix them, such as gently rubbing the screen (in an attempt to reseat the pixel), flashing bright colors on the screen, or simply tolerating the stuck pixel until it disappears (which can take anywhere from a day to years), although sometimes stuck pixels will remain on screens permanently.

The exact method to remove stuck pixels is the following:

    1. Turn off your computer.
    2. Get yourself a damp cloth, so that you don't scratch your screen.
    3. Apply pressure to the area where the dead pixel is. Do not put pressure anywhere else,
as this may make more dead pixels.
    4. While applying pressure, turn on your computer and screen.
    5. Remove pressure and the dead pixel should be gone.

This works as the liquid in the liquid crystal has not spread into each little pixel. This liquid is used with the backlight on your monitor, allowing different amounts of light through which give off different colours.

    --------

The "flashing of colors" method has recently gained public interest after a video that quickly flashes the main RGB colors have been produced to help in fixing stuck pixels in the PlayStation Portable. This video is said to be inspired by a DVD that some TFT TV retailers distribute to their customers who report stuck pixels. A portable Java application using the same concept has also been created for PCs, and a homebrew application for the Nintendo GameBoy Advance is available for owners of GBA SP and Nintendo DS systems. Although this method gives no guarantee of success, a rate of up to 60% has been reported by users who left their screen flashing overnight.

It is strongly recommended to run the program with the system's screen covered to prevent someone with photosensitive epilepsy from being affected.

I've had very good luck massaging out stuck pixels on some lower end desktop LCD's. Of course, they usually reappear with great frequency. I don't have any on the higher end desktop panels or my T60 Flexview, which by the way, I just got a week ago. They're still selling preconfigs.

I got a stuck pixel once and I got it unstuck by refreshing the desktop and closing the lid and reopening (Have it on "do nothing" for closing the lid).

You were misinformed. Only 15" SXGA+ and UXGA+ are FlexView.

Today a Lenovo rep told me the reason they are not selling new T60 machines with 1400x1050 Flexviews right now is because of a ***temporary*** shortage of the Flexview panels due to **ONE** of their Flexview panel manufacturers not being able to deliver the volume they need.

He said that right now the only option is to buy from somewhere having an inventory of new Flexview machines for sale, such as CDW. He even checked CDW's inventory for me while I was on the phone with him (they had some in stock).

He mentioned an estimated two month time frame for the current Flexview shortage on new machines. But it wasn't clear to me when the two month period he mentioned started.

He mentioned they would be offering Flexview screens again as soon as the lagging manufacturer of their Flexview screens began delivering inventory again.

BTW, as I mentioned in another thread, another Lenovo rep told me they would begin offering Flexviews on the new 14" laptops they announce later this October. No other details were mentioned on the upcoming 14" Flexviews.

    Hope this helps,

    Louis

If they did that would be fantastic, but I would not doubt it if the rep is wrong.
