    Why is the T61 cheaper than the T60?

    The T61 is less expensive than the T60. Why? The T61 has exactly the same specs except it has a better processor and video card. :confused:

    .. and a roll cage, new ThinkPad logo, Intel Turbo Memory, and faster FSB.

    My theory is that Lenovo's cost for T61 parts < cost of T60 parts.

    Intel dropping prices, ram prices coming down, HD prices down, then add on the new stronger plastic parts that are cheaper to make than stamped magnesium, and you can knock off a ton of money.

    Actually, the t60 preconfig's are now cheaper than a preconfig T61 preconfig's to ibm employees if you look on the ibm intranet (not the ibm epp)
