    Why can't I get a NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M (256MB Open GL) in a 14 inch screen?

How much differnt is the 256Mb version of the Quadro card versus the 128Mb version....

    Thanks,
    Chris

The 128MB version uses a 64-bit memory bus, while the 256 MB version uses a 128-bit memory bus..it's still the best 14" graphics card available.

So why can't you stick the 256MB version in a 14 inch box? I'm still not getting it....

Will the 256 card ever be offered for the 14 inch screen?

I'm not sure, but it probably has to do with heat dissipation.

    and I would say space.

are you people trying to say that the 15" model cools better than the 14" model, so that one can have 256MB and the other one cant ??

I think it is a combination of heat and space. :p But the big issue is probably space.

that and if it were the same graphics card, i'm betting almost everybody would spring for the 14" model instead of the 15.4" one.

    A Widescreen 14" 256mb 570m'ed T61P would have been a nice option.

Eeek, there's so many numbers in the previous sentence.

if they had the 256mb option for the 14inc model I'd be all over it. Price is a hell of a lot cheaper then the 15inch model as well about 200$ less for my personal configuration

Lenovo probably figured they'll only garner a very small percentage of the *business* buyers who would actually do CAD work on a tinny 14" screen. So, economics probably dictate that 14" buyers will probably not spend an extra $100-$150 for the upgraded card and I'm not sure it is not just a matter of putting in a new chip as it is soldered on the board. So, they would have to spec out a manufactured board for the 14" model with a 256 card. The bean counters probably got an upper hand on this.

And you know they are not going to just charge $50 for 256MB on a 14" model over 128MB, right? So, if you are going to pay more, they expect you to pay a little more for the 15".
