I just got my T400 about 3 weeks ago, and have been having problems with the wi-fi card since i got it. i have the 5300 wi-fi card, and web pages load EXTREMELY slow and often times time out. i've tried the wi-fi on several networks including home, office, several airports, a hotel, a convention center, all with these same slow results. I've used the Lenovo system update application and it doesn't tell me that there are any upodates for the card.

i am very frustrated because this was an expensive laptop, and i'm pretty much unable to use the wireless at all. what do you all recommend I do?

Which driver are you using for the 5300? I always use the latest official ones from Intel, which have never given me any problems.

i've got 12.4.0.21, released 3/4/2009. is that the most recent version?

Also, in system under network adapters, there is a "Microsoft 6to4 adapter" listed, and it has an yellow error next to it. when I try to update the driver, it doesn't find anything. does anyone know what this adapter is, and how i can resolve this issue?

After I posted above, I checked and Intel has a newer driver version, so I just updated. But I was using 12.4.0.21 for quite a while and I had zero problems with speed. Newest one is 12.4.3.9, dated 05/28/09, seems to work just fine like the previous version.

And I don't have any "6to4 adapter" listed in my device manager in the network adapters, so I don't know what that is.

Maybe its your power-save settings? In Vista's Power Options under Wireless Adapter Settings, I use max performance when plugged in and moderate power savings for battery power.

You might also want to try uninstalling Lenovo’s Access Connections and using the wireless functionality that’s built into Windows. The Intel card in my T400 works flawlessly.

Not sure what to say other than that my 5300 card works flawlessly.

You could try reseating the card in its Mini-PCI Express slot, as well as reseating the antenna connections to it.

Glad to hear! Be sure to complain loudly to Lenovo and tell them to stop shipping software that’s broken by default!
