The 2Gb stick will work. I had a issue with it being recognized and it turns out mine would not run in asynchronous mode so i bought another 2 gig and now i have 4 with 3.25Gb recognized. It may work for you though. I have 2623DDU T60p by the way.

The T60/p maxes out at 3GB (hardware limitation) and the T61/p at 4GB with Vista 64-bit.

My IT guy at work told me today that 1gb and 2gb memory sticks don`t mix.He said that I should get a 2 x 1gb sticks.

    My specifications state 3gb max .Can I put 2 x 2gb ?I know it`s probaly no but I figured I would ask .

Your IT guy is incorrect...using a 1GB and 2GB will give you no problems. Many people on this forum have that setup.
