My hidden partition on the T60 is now toast. Lenovo is sending me recovery disks but now I don't know if base software administrator will work from recovery disks. I really want to get rid of symantec by having it never installed in the first place. I just don't know if the add/remove feature really removes things as well as never having put it on there in the first place.
Any ideas?

You will have to use the recovery disks, completely recover the system (multiple reboots, don't interrupt the process until the system is REALLY done, log on, load BSA, select things you want to restrict (be careful, if in doubt, leave it alone), save the manifest file with a default name/path, choose "deploy" in BSA, restart the system, and use custom factory recovery.
In effect, you are doing factory recovery twice....once just to get the factory image up, again to get custom recovery done. -
If removing Norton is your primary concern then use the latest Norton removal tool : http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Norton-Removal-Tool.shtml
and remove it. There is also the manual method of removing it to make sure there is absolutely nothing left: http://www.askdavetaylor.com/how_to_fully_remove_norton_from_pc.html -
As far as the removing symantec using the dave taylor method as stallen mentioned I can do that, I just remember NOD32 not working in the past when I did it that way and so I got the impression that there was still some residue in spite of going through that whole process. Either way I can't use NOD32 again, it absolutely hates me LOL, not sure why. That's what got me into this position with the rescue and recovery disks in the first place.
Will Base Software Administrator work from recovery disks if you're hidden partion is gone?
