    Hey Thinkpad gamers,

Recently started playing sc2 on my thinkpad t500. Anyone know how durable these keyboards are for this kind of abuse? I have a pretty heavy keypress and am really mashing my keyboard all game. Also, will I damage anything underneath the keyboard?

    thanks

Well, I have been playing SC2 and as well as plenty of other games on my T500. My keyboard is holding great and I haven't noticed any damage on or underneath the keyboard. The only sad thing is that my hotkeys are now all shiney.

It should hold up ok. If you're still under warranty you can always just ask for a new keyboard.

I've gamed on my X41 and T22 for ages, and aside from some slightly smoother keys, I've never seen any harm from it. Heavy handed Starcrafting can't compare to the beating I used to give the X41 playing UT2004, and it's still fine to this day. Well.....the spacebar tilts a bit and has a slight shine to the left side from me tapping jump WAY too often. :)

Thinkpad keyboard is probably one of the most robust keyboard around. The chance of you killing it from playing SC is pretty low, if you don't abuse it.

Even if you kill it, it will die happy. :) Yeah, don't smack it with your fist if you start losing and it should be fine.

Even if you do, it should survive. My X41 has experienced more than one keyboard punch, table smash, plus that one time that the power cable cut my sore loser act short by wrapping around my leg and flinging the poor laptop across the room. D: Your laptop understands that you just got zerg swarmed/headshotted/knifed/otherwise humiliated, and being a Thinkpad, should take the accidental punishment you may deal to it. :)

The great thing about Lenovo keyboard is that they are cheap and easy to replace. They are also very durable compare to consumer notebooks, you should have not have to worry about the keys.

I think it heavily depends on your use. If you are really hitting it hard so it won't last long.

But as mentioned here, you can replace it easily.

What? How do you play? What hotkeys? I use pretty much as many hotkeys as permissible also, but I dotn see how you can damage your keyboard for any normal human-keyboard interaction?

Is this from experience, say normally breaking keyboards after writing up an essay assignment?

    thanks for the responses guys,
I actually have a backup thinkpad keyboard, in case this one breaks

now i'm more worried about killing the inside parts, because I have the keyboard with holes.

    @smellycant

silver zerg, trying to play macro games, pieguy is my online id. you probably don't want to play me if you're good.

edit: well, the main difference between essay writing and sc is that sc is mostly mashing 5-6 keys all game long, so I'm afraid I'll get premature failure on the left side.

My crappy consumer Alienware laptop keyboard was able to take a beating and ThinkPads definitely seem to have a more robust build and keyboard.

    You should be fine. :]
