I have a T43, and the plastic piece at the back of the laptop is cracked:

No part is missing, its just that it is cracked. The laptop is under warranty (but not accidental warranty). What are the chances or Lenovo replacing the case ?

Bring it in to the service center and give it a shot, it depends on how they think it caused the crack. I just got my palmrest replaced under warranty due to some discoloring problem. Normally they don't replace the palmrest for free about discoloring, cause it is part of wear and tear, but my case was a little different. They inspected my machine and took some pics, after a week, they decided to change it for me without charge even though the Lenovo head office hasn't made a decision yet. I think it also depends on the people who works in that particular service center.
-
good luck with that. lenovo is actually sticklers on cracked parts. in some cases with our machines at work they denied me warranty service on other items because the case was cracked. they literally told me that if i sent it in they would just return it right away becuase of the cracks, even though they had nothing to do with the problems. as stated you will need to get the right people from the service center.

By the way, if you talk to the repair center on the phone, if the first person you talk to said it won't be under warranty, don't lose your hope yet. I had to talk to 3 different people in the repair center, and the last one decided to help me and told me to bring it in for them to take a look. Some people are really nicer than others, seriously.

Bring it to the service center as in ask them for a box to mail it in right ?
BTW, its under onsite warranty. -
You should still call them first before sending it in.
Where I'm located atm, there is a repair center locally, so I didn't have to mail it in, but I still called them first to arrange everything. If you have on-site warranty, they should go to your place and try to fix it, no?
Anyway, call them and see what they can arrange for you.

yeah they will (assuming you can come up with a story to cover it)
-
That is so bogus honestly. What do they expect us to do as customers, put it on a pillow and carry it to work like a genie?
-For those of you who said that you spoke to multiple individuals before finding a "nice" one, did you call back to get a different person? Or did you just say "you are rude and unhelpful. I do not want to speak to you. Get me another representative." -
I called back few days later and spoke to a different person.
-
its true, as with anything service related it really does depend on who you talk to. the military reps that i had with dell would let me replace anything. best part was, i only had to field destroy the old parts. standard call center persons have their rules to follow and some go the extra mile to help you out and some dont. so yes it really does depend on who you talk to. sometimes policy is policy but often if you are civil about it, you can get what you want.
cracks are hard because no matter what they will claim neglect. a computer case (especially lenovo) doesnt just crack on its own. best of luck, hopefully they set you up. if not, the bottom casing should not be that expensive. -
I am in a similar situation. The bezel around the screen is cracked a little bit on mine. I don't have the accidental warranty. However, I didn't drop my laptop or anything...just one day I noticed it was cracked. -_- I am going to give this a try too and see if they will replace it for me. It might be harder for you wearetheborg because the motherboard will be attached to the bottom part of the case.

They just replaced my Flexview LCD with a crappy non-flexview one, so I gotta call them back. Should I add the base changing requesting in the same job or call later some other day ?

Great, thanks.
It says this:
What dos the "M24" Mean ? Like 2669, 15in M24 ? And there are two FRUs based on Taiwan or Worldwide, which one should I choose ?
The machine type is 2669-Q1U -
if you are looking to replace it with the same one, wont the part lookup show you the exact fru used during its build?
