Will OKR function, if I make a system backup image AFTER re-partitioning the HDD ?

Just got a Lenovo IdeaPad Y400 with 1 TB HDD. Win 8. Onekey recovery 8.
there is one large OS, with about 900 GB space and 5-6 other partitions.
I want to make a separate files/data partition to keep my personal files by getting some space from the large OS partition.
I have heard that people who made a recovery image by OKR and then partitioned their HDDs, had problem restoring the image.

I wanted to know whether someone has succeeded in repartitioning first and then making a backup image using OKR ? and will this backup image work in case of system failure ?
When I try to make a backup using OKR, it says it needs about 30 GB space, while the default path of D: LENOVO only has a total 25 GB size.
So I would need to expand that partition too, if i want to keep my backup image on the laptop itself, which seems to be the most convenient option.

    any suggestions ?

for a new system, short answer is yes.
u will need to know the original serial numbers for the partitions on the HDD.

    My Lenovo Z710 1TB came pre-installed with Windows 8.1.
I wanted to resize C: from 900 GB to 240 GB
and resize drive D: from 30 GB to 690 GB.

I used AOMEI partition assistent 5.6 to make these partition changes.

First I made a bootable recovery USB-stick with initial install.
Then I made a bootable AOMEI CD.
Also made a system-backup on external HDD with OKR.

Used Minitool partition 9.0 to write down all original partition-ID’s.

Booted my laptop with the AOMEI CD (takes a while)
Then resized C: and made a partition F: with rest of the space.

Restarted laptop, and merged F: with drive D:\LENOVO (with AOMEI)
Made sure that D: was the target drive to merge with.

Checked all partition-ID’s with minitool partition wizard.
All partition-ID’s were still the same.

    Started Lenovo OneKey Recovery 8.
    Could perform a (saved) system-restore.
    Could perform an initial system-restore.
All seem to work just as it should.

Big thx to developpers of AOMEI partition 9.0 !

PS, possible alternative solution if this not work for you : AOMEI OneKey Revovery
