    Will Penryn allow DDR3 ram?

    Or should I just get a T61p now?

    If it supports DDR3 ram, I think it's worth it to wait a month or two, otherwise I probably won't...

    No. DDR3 support won't come until the Montevina platform which comes in Q2 2008.

    Penryn itself refers to a new processor that will run on top of the existing Santa Rosa platform. As a result, there will be no support for DDR3 memory, let alone DDR2-800. Montevina will be a refresh of the platform, which will allow for DDR3 that utilize newer Penryn processors in the future.

    Santa Rosa -> Santa Rosa Refresh (SAME platform + Penryn processor) -> Montevina (NEW platform + Penryn processor) -> Montevina Refresh (Same Montevina platform + New processsor)....
