I would like to replace the 80GB HDD that came with my Lenovo 3000 N100 with the largest possible HDD. Currently it looks like 250GB is the largest that can be purchase for a reasonable price.
I found a nice such HDD:
SAMSUNG Spinpoint M Series HM250JI 250GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache Serial ATA150
But I have no idea whether it will fit my Lenovo.
Do you happen to know whether it fits?
If not, how/where can I check that?
Thanks!

Nobody knows? Hmmm... let's see:
A hard drive that surely fits the Lenovo 3000 N100 has the following specs:
-
And the answer is... Yes, I think it will fit - because it's the same physical size, has the same interface (SATA 150) and it even has the same RPM (5400).
Anyone who thinks otherwise, speak now or forever hold your piece. -
I guess it will fit and work OK. But I have no idea how Samsung compares to other brands of HDD. Personally I always stick with Seagate or Hitachi.
That's my 2 cents worth.

I stick with Hitachi or Seagate as well, but it will fit. I bought mine from Newegg and they had both the price difference was negligible.

All 2.5" HDD are the same size and will fit.

Will APS run in this drive? Will APS run on ANY drive? Or we should by directly from Lenovo?

I have two Samsung desktop hard drives and both of them are annoyingly loud. They make a low-frequency pulsing sound. No more Samsung for me. Hitachi or Seagate only from now on.

I didn't find an official review for any laptop hard drives that have been released this year. As far as Samsung goes, there were some desktop HDD reviews last year.
Desktop HDDs vs Laptop HDDs = Apples vs Oranges. All I can say, is that when most people are looking for a quality laptop HDD usually the front runners are Hitachi, Seagate, and Western Digital. Probably in that order with Hitachi and Seagate being neck and neck. (In the desktop world, I would reverse that order, but that's just me.) When I think Samsung, I tend to think "budget". Which is fine if that is what you are after.
Silentpcreview seems to focus a lot on acoustics (hence the name). All I can say is that I almost never hear my Hitachi 7K200 or Seagate 5400.3. I can only hear them in the most completely dead silent room.
Will SAMSUNG HM250JI 250GB fit Lenovo 3000 N100?
