Does non-ThinkPad Lenovo have anything similar to ThinkVantage for system update?

Exactly which "non-ThinkPad" are we talking about? There is the LSC, but that only works with certain Think models, and doesn't include a System Update capability.

If you are looking for a "one step auto driver download" forget about it. The closest thing they have, is to go to the Lenovo driver support site for your model, and manually compare/check every driver you want, against your device manager. You can download them all, in one download, and pick the ones you want to install.

It seems there are some non-thinkpad business lenovo laptop like B/M/V series (and china's zhao yang model) that can be installed with ThinkVantage. For example:
Lenovo B490 driver download (search thinkvantage)

Not every model get all of the thinkvantage tools, but at least they got System Update utility.

    From this page:

I saw some good deals on Lenovo G at the Outlet. The ThinkPad E looks almost identical to the Lenovo G. The E must be a rebadged G with some bells and whistles. That's why I'm wondering if ThinkVantage will work on the G.

Which lenovo G did you mean? I never saw any lenovo G that resemble thinkpad all this time. The closest non-thinkpad lenovo that resemble thinkpad is zhao yang K/E models.

Usually "Lenovo" laptop that have thinkvantage will have fingerprint reader, but the easiest way to find out is to check whether the thinkvantage software exist in driver download page or not. If you try to install it on non-supported models, I think it won't work.

ThinkVantage will NOT work on any non-Think products.

If you're wanting to use ThinkVantage, get a Thinkpad...

For most non-Think Lenovo PCs bought in the last few years, there should be a program named LVT (which stands for Lenovo Vantage Technology) which comes pre-installed on the PC. You can use it to do updates much like you can with ThinkVantage on Think systems.
