That is precisely what I need - UXGA 1600x1200 would be perfect. Yet the T60p currently is sporting a mere SXGA+ @ 1400 x 1050.
Sigh. Can these things be custom ordered or some such? Beyond the customizations offered on the Lenovo site?

I don't think so, it is quite impractical for most users. I will say, I have the T60p with SXGA+ and it is really nice.

you would think that a 15" display with 1600 x 1200 res would be too high and that was my fear also, but when I got it, I had no regret. Everything just looks so much more crips and fantastic, esp if you're looking at high res graphics. you can try 3rd party vendors, but you cannot customize it, thats the down side.

I don't think, with no disrespect meant to your personal preference, that many people share your taste. I imagine Lenovo and other online vendors see a disproportionate number of returns on laptops with insanely high resolutions like that, since they sound attractive on paper to laypeople who can't actually deal with them once they receive their shiny new machines. I have decent vision and find SXGA+ resolutions on 14" laptops unacceptably small - UXGA on 15" has to be insane in that regard.

Well, I predict a big increase in the "insane resolution" spectrum once Vista becomes more mainstream. Scaling is much improved on OS-X and Vista compared to older systems, allowing larger text without the non-native distortion.

Certainly no disrepect meant to those chiming in on this thread, but I agree with the poster 100%. My last 2 notebooks had 1600 x 1200, and it was wonderful. I just took delivery of a t60p with SXGA+. It is fine, but I honestly liked 1600 x 1200 better. I had waited for about two months, hoping this would be available again, but then gave up.
By the way, this new Flexview machine has a lot of light leakage... rather disappointing.

Interesting discussion. I suspected that the lack of availability came down to the inability in Windows to adjust the font size back up to something legible. I have a T42P with a 1600x1200 screen and I run Linux -- where I can change font and sizes easily. The display is wonderful.
FWIW the HP nw8440 can be ordered with a 15.4 inch WUXGA. It has a 1920x1200 screen.
Will a T60p w/ UXGA be available ever again?
