Will a flexview be adequate for presentations?

From everything I have researched the t42 with Flexsview sounds like a very good unit. However the ghosting problem sounds quite severe and is the only thing I am concerned with.

I do plan on giving powerpoint presentations, and other presentations that use slides and have some motion. Nothing compared to a dvd or game though.I do not plan on watching dvds or playing games.

Will the t42 with flexview be adequate for this?

One recommendation would be to buy through IBM.com, even though it is slightly more expensive, if you are not satisfied with a ThinkPad after 30-days you can return it for a refund. Here is there refund policy:

For a new IBM Machine, you may return it to IBM for any reason within 30 days of the date of invoice and obtain a refund or credit. IBM does not provide refunds or credits for portions of a packaged offering provided at a single price. You may return the complete package for a refund or credit.

To qualify for this credit or refund (as applicable), you must call IBM at 1-800-426-7235 to obtain a return-authorization form. You must return the new IBM Machine, including all documentation and accessories, intact and in its original packaging, to an IBM designated location by the date IBM specifies.

A copy of the invoice, the return-authorization form, and the shipping label must accompany the return. Shipping and handling charges generally will not be refunded or credited. IBM Machines returned without an IBM return-authorization form or returned after the date specified by IBM, may be subject to a restocking fee equal to 15% of the price paid. You agree to pay the restocking fee as IBM specifies.

For an IBM licensed software Program that was delivered to you digitally, the above terms apply, except that instead of returning the IBM Program, you may destroy it (including any IBM Program documentation) and use an IBM provided form to acknowledge in writing to IBM that you no longer have the right to use the IBM Program. If the IBM licensed software Program that was delivered to you digitally was purchased through the United States Software online Catalogue, you must submit your refund request to: [email protected].

Why not go with a 14" w/o Flexview? That way you dont have to worry about the ghosting effect. There are some great resolution 14" screens out there and I believe they are 1 lb. lighter to!

I went with this one, the seller claims its the best 14" and also 3,200 on the IBM site for a additional 50.00 he checks your pixels before shipping. Give him a try if this satifies what you need.

Hi settlepa. I read your other posts, are you a realtor?

My other question is what are the risks/drawbacks of buying on ebay? other then not qualifying for the 30 day return policy.

The thinkpad you linked looks good however I can't find it anywhere on IBMs site and the link provided does not appear to be IBMs site. The url is different.

I shortened the link to this:

    http://www5.pc.ibm.com/homepage.nsf

and it does not appear to be the ibm website.

I am just weary of ebay and want to make sure things are legit. It appears this model is no longer sold by IBM?

www5.pc.ibm.com is not an IBM website. It is a ghost website to look like the IBM website. As far as I can tell this model is no longer sold by IBM and is not retailing for what he claims. They probably sold it months ago and at that time this is what it retailed for.

His model can be found nowhere on the official IBM site for sale or even specs on it.

As usual ebay listings look good but are usually too good to be true.
