My T61p currently has 2GB of RAM. As I have the 32-bit version of Vista Ultimate, I am thinking of increasing the RAM to its maximum (ie. 3GB).

Will putting in more RAM void the warranty of the machine?

No, memory is a CRU (Customer Replaceable Unit). For instructions, watch the movie!

I don't know about the RAM but from what I have read here they don't need the harddrive in the machine when it is sent for servicing under warranty.

I would make sure that if you ever sent the unit in for repair, you pull your memory. I think under their terms they don't consider themselves responsible for losing your additions.

This has been in the FAQs for TPF and the TP Mailing List since 2001 for a reason:

    5) Does EasyServ need my HDD to fix my ThinkPad?

Never send anything to EasyServ that isn't part of the problem. Period.
