I am upgrading my Dell 700m to a 160GB hard drive and will have a 100GB Hard drive available, it is a Seagate ST9100823A. I plan to install this into my IBM X30, which has a 60GB HD. Can it handle a 100GB HD??
-
yea it can. Why don't you give it a try you already have x30 and 100gb next to ya.
just test for it to not post any error no need to reinstall windows or anything -
Thanks for the advice, but too much trouble to install/reinstall HDs. I am expecting to order the new HD (160) on Monday, and then I will install the 100G in the X30 and install the OS and so forth. I just wanted to make sure the it would hanlde it or if not, I could use it as storage for music and videos.
The one other positive aspect is the speed, it is 5400rpm, so I will increase my HD speed from 4500rpm to 5400 rprm. -
Follow up question, I got this message on another tread about the 100GB hard I am using to replace. Note that the HDD you selected will not work as the 700m uses a Parallel ATA or what newegg categorized them as ATA-6 does the X30 use a Parallel ATA???
would this HD from a Dell 700m be compatiable.???
-
Yes they are compatible.

Okay, I recieved my 160G HD for my Dell 700m, *installed and working*. Now, I took the 100G HD from that same Dell and try to install it in the X30 and when I tried to reformatte, it gave me an error about paritiions and something. I am reformating it, but want to know it this is actual compatiable with an X30?/
Will an X30, P3 1.2Ghz handle a 100GB Hard Drive??
